Important Indian Shrine Cover
This is an outstanding highly carved and painted shrine cover from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, North West India. It belongs to the Jain Faith.
It is carved in teak and painted in natural pigments, it is a rare survivor making it an important piece.
It would have been made as a house shrine for a wealthy merchant or member of the royal household. It dates from late 18th Century or very early 19th Century.
