A single French Francois Carre steel armchair
A superb rare French Francois Carre armchair, this design of chair was commissioned by Le Corbusier from Francois Carre for Carlos (Charles) de Beistegui when Le Corbusier designed and built his Penthouse Apartment on the Champs-Elysées in Paris between 1929 & 1931. It is constructed of round iron sections and sprung steel with the seat having the classic pinwheel in the centre. This is an original chair from the 1930's and is in good condition exhibiting running repairs over time which adds to is charm and authenticity. The sprung seat is in good condition as is the structure.
