Indian Miniature Temple

Ref# MMPC-4196
A very rare miniature temple from the Rajasthan province. It dates from the late 18th or early 19th Century.

This shrine would have been created for a Hindu potentate or rich merchant and would have resided in a room within their palace, which had been set aside for prayer.

The domed form is typical of the temple structures in this part of India. The scale model follows the style and construction of a real temple, with its fluted pillars and carved arches. The carving is remarkable and of superb quality.

It easily deconstructs into six separate sections. Excellent condition throughout although a few small losses and wear commensurate with age.

Approx. 174cm high x 115cm square
